Within the framework of the project “Center Christo and Jeanne-Claude – the New Neighbor”, supported by the America for Bulgaria Foundation, several initiatives were implemented, which were aimed, first, at developing talents and attracting young professionals to our city through the School for Curators, second – at institutionalizing the Center (creating the legal entity with which the organization will operate), and third, which is an ongoing task – at the visibility of the project. Work on preparing the architectural competition also continues.
Given the proximity of the Center and the Museum of Humor and Satire, as well as the over 8 years of commitment and dedication of our team to supporting this significant social and cultural cause, we have a long-term and active attitude towards the development of the new cultural organization in our city and we hope that this good-neighborly attitude will be maintained in the future. This means working together and in support of each other. For example, within the framework of the Curator’s School, three exhibition projects were prepared – one for the Museum and two for the Center. The development for the Museum became the basis for our approved project proposal to the Ministry of Culture.
In 2025, the project “Christo and Jeanne-Claude Center – The New Neighbor”, funded by the “America for Bulgaria” Foundation, was successfully completed.
The two-year project ensured the preparation of the tools for the institutionalization of the Center, the development of an artistic program with international participation and the establishment of partnerships with European cultural organizations.
Among the highlights is the exhibition “Childhood Years” at the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Paris, which presented works by artists from the residency program.
With the completion of the project, the “Christo and Jeanne-Claude” Center now functions as an independent cultural institution with a clear vision and an international profile.
