Project: “Stoyan Venev – multifaceted and vital” – anniversary retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Humor and Satire, Gabrovo
The exhibition is realized with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and is a joint project between the Museum of Humor and Satire – Gabrovo, the Vladimir Dimitrov – Maystora Art Gallery – Kyustendil, and partnering collectors.

Project objectives:

General objective

To present to a large audience of the Museum “an encounter with an unknown author or rather, an unknown side of his work”, to tell, through his works, a different, richer and more dramatic story about the life and creative path of Stoyan Venev.

Specific objectives

To stimulate public debates about the skill and courage to stand up for oneself, one’s origin, understanding, freedom in creativity;
To build a successful, mutually satisfying partnership between cultural institutions with many years of experience and different perspectives on the same important topics;
To strengthen and develop the capacity of the organization;
To carry out information and publicity activities, mainly through digital media, developing and publicly providing two virtual tours of the exhibitions in the two cultural institutes.
The collective exhibition realized by the Museum of Humor and Satire for the 120th anniversary of Stoyan Venev presented the multifaceted and vital nature of the work of one of the classics in Bulgarian painting.

The “collective” exhibition for the 120th anniversary of Stoyan Venev, organized by the Museum of Humor and Satire, presented the multifaceted and vital nature of the work of one of the classics of Bulgarian painting.

The exhibition “Stoyan Venev. Canonical, tongue-in-cheek, and out of the drawer” showed 157 works from four collections, in partnership with the Art Gallery “Vladimir Dimitrov – The Master” – Kyustendil and attracted over 26,500 visitors.

Virtual 360-degree tours of the exhibitions in both cities and a souvenir line promoting the artist’s work have been created.

The exhibition, held in the period December 20, 2024 – June 30, 2025, presented works taken to extreme opposites – of techniques, plots, themes, compositional approaches, seasons, terrains, types, actions and situations, but in a kind of “cinematic” narrative, in which each subsequent work is a predictable continuation of the previous one.
