Do you love visiting museums and galleries? Perhaps you’ve attended the opening of a new exhibition and felt the attention and respect that the people creating the exhibitions receive. Have you ever wondered what “curating” entails and what role it plays in presenting art and cultural processes?

The curator acts as a mediator between the different worlds of artists, their works, exhibition spaces (galleries, museums, etc.), and the audience. Through curating exhibitions, catalogs, and events, the curator presents works of art and conveys their understanding of their relevance and significance to viewers.

The Museum of Humor and Satire challenges you to take on this exciting and artistic role by “creating” your exhibition in a digital environment with works from our collection. You will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and practical skills in this field, develop your creativity, and critical thinking.

Become a part of our Teen Curator contest – individually or as a team (up to 3 people) – and create your digital exhibition. You will have the rare privilege of uncovering the hidden treasures of the Museum.

You will have access to 100 artworks in digital format, including recipients of the prestigious “Golden Aesop” award from the Gabrovo Biennial.

You will receive knowledge and guidance from professional curators and can rely on support and guidance from the museum team.

The theme of the contest is: “For the price of…” (everything in this world has its price – it could be energy, time, health, money, and many other things).

In the exhibition, you can include up to 25 works, creating an authorial concept for an exposition with works from the largest collection of humorous and satirical artworks in Bulgaria.

To participate, you need to register using the form.

The contest is implemented under the project “Creation of Space, Plan, and Model for Digitalization of Cultural Values and Archives” of the Museum “House of Humor and Satire,” funded by the National Culture Fund under the “Program for the Restoration and Development of State, Regional, and Municipal Cultural Institutes.”

The National Culture Fund supports the creation, development, and dissemination of Bulgarian culture and art nationally and internationally.
