The Museum of Humor and Satire has launched the new video series “Smiling Chronicles”, which brings the audience together with authors whose works are part of the Museum’s Digital Collection.

In seven short episodes, artists, friends and partners of the museum talk about the life, work and inspirations of some of the interesting names represented in the art fund.

The series is an invitation to all who want to peek behind the works and discover more of the wealth of the Museum of Humor and Satire.

In the third episode, Jan Chovanec, a linguist and professor at Masaryk University in Brno, introduces František Dostal, a Czech engineer and self-taught photographer.

The Art Fund of the Museum of Humor and Satire contains 42 works by Dostal, all of which are included in the Digital Catalog.

The Museum of Humor and Satire has launched the new video series “Smiling Chronicles”, which brings the audience together with authors whose works are part of the Museum’s Digital Collection.

In seven short episodes, artists, friends and partners of the museum talk about the life, work and inspirations of some of the interesting names represented in the art fund.

The series is an invitation to all who want to peek behind the works and discover more of the wealth of the Museum of Humor and Satire.

In the second episode, Galiana Evgenieva introduces Gencho Simeonov – a cartoonist, illustrator, animator and production designer. A student of Iliya Beshkov and a long-time collaborator of the newspaper “Starshel”, he is among the significant names in Bulgarian cartooning.

Gencho Simeonov is represented in the Art Fund of the Museum of Humor and Satire with 17 works, 15 of which are already included in the Digital Collection.

The first episode introduces us to Hristo Stoychev – a musician, artist and master of wood sculpture from Veliko Tarnovo.

In the interview, he shares his thoughts on his creative path, inspiration and art.

The museum’s Art Fund stores 19 of his works, and some of them can now be viewed in the Digital Collection.

As part of the project “Digital House of Humor and Satire: Art from 170+ Countries over the Last Century”, funded by the National Culture Fund, the Museum has opened public online access to its Collection.

The Digital Catalog is now available here and includes selected works from the Art Collection – Cartoons, Graphics, Paintings, Graphic Posters, Sculptures, Photography and other forms of Visual Art.

The Catalog is updated daily in the process of digitization.

The platform is bilingual (BG/EN) and is built on the MuseumPlus system, implemented in the Museum in 2024.
