For the Price of a Human
a project by Mina Pencheva and Natalia Dimitrova
For the Price of a Human
The human being is the freest creation of nature. He defines himself as the most amazing and capable creature, because of his ability to communicate with others and make personal choices. The human leads a social life, based on diverse, social behavior and distributed in numerous social groups.
To satisfy his primary desire for communication, he invents and invents various means of connecting people to create social, communicative networks. The human seek varying ways to fit into social society and “cover” the norms and etiquettes that the mass imposes. Those who fail to find their place in social networks are defined as different.
For the Price of Difference
Wall 1
The difference is people who cannot follow social orders. They have their specific peculiarities and are not well accepted by the society. Marginal is a known term for them. The differences separate from society and stand out in their way with individual qualities and characteristics. They are not the next, locked and stunned by the prison of social networks.
For the Price of Prison
Wall 2
Social networks are a public structure connecting millions of people from around the world. They feed the human brain with brief content and “wash” his brain. Social networks reduce the time in which a person can focus on a single task and do not allow him to get bored. With their diverse topics, social networks captivate the human mind and addict it. They lock him in a “cell” and do not allow him to practice free thinking. Their goal is to attract themselves. Social networks achieve this by intriguing human egoism.
For the Price of Egoism
Wall 3
The ego is the bearer of individual self-consciousness and is normal for all people. There is a case where it manifests altruistically. But in a social situation, the ego is most protruded as egoism. Selfishness is a tendency of the personality to appreciate everything as its own. Egoism puts man in the center and presupposes that he does not respect the value system and the understanding of others. The important thing for the egoist is to get the approval of society by portraying himself as brilliantly as possible.
For the Price of Approval
Wall 4
Approval is the public mass to react positively to personal behavior. It is critical to the structure of social society, so every intensely social person seeks approval. It is the basis for the life of society.
For the Price of Life
Wall 5
Life is a distinguishing mark of living beings in the space of inanimate matter. People make sense of their lives by creating social connections. They are built based on online applications that shape a large part of a person’s social network. Addiction to them is already normalized and is led as a natural part of a person’s life. The information and content we consume become part of us. Social orders press us to “sell” our everyday life and life, that is, our entire life, to addiction, to fit into society.
Summary
Man is heavily subject to social etiquette. The norms imposed by social groups can bring out the most insidious in man or separate him from the group. They presuppose people to engage around the clock with social trends. The way someone fits in or separates from the “group”, and the manners in which he portrays himself, determine the price of a man.
Development
Our team included 18 works, which were distributed according to their basic understanding and theme on the 5 provided walls, as follows:
- Wall 1 – For the Price of Difference – 4 works;
- Wall 2 – For the Price of Prison – 6 works;
- Wall 3 – For the Price of Egoism – 2 works;
- Wall 4 – For the Price of Approval – 2 works;
- Wall 5 – For the Price of Life – 4 works.
The audience needs to understand the basic morals of a person, dependent on social networks.
We also used the software floorplanner.com to match the real sizes of the pictures with the volume of the room.
